Research on the Tolerance and Degradation of o-Cresol by Microalgae

o-Cresol shows high toxicity and stability. To explore a better degradation method of o-cresol, the o-cresol by three kinds microalgae (Selenastrum capricornutum, Scenedesmus obliquus, Microcystis aeruginosa) was researched in this paper. The growth status rate were used to reflect tolerance effect microalgae. effects medium’s initial pH, microalgal density, different exogenous pollutants on Selenastrum capricornutum investigated. results showed that had best o-cresol. density increased after adaptation concentrations for some time. At pH 7.0 as condition, exhibited degradation. When OD680 0.20, first be completely degraded within 5 days. higher preferentially glucose promote under mixotrophic cultivation. could degrade phenol at same time, completed 8 days when concentration 100 120 mg/L. It proven is feasible suitable conditions.
